Santa Fe January 23-27 2020
Come to “the City Different,” and discover what generations of writers, artists, shamans, and poets already know. This capital city, the oldest in the US, is a magical combination of mystical objects and devotions, ancient pueblos and sacred ruins, vast starry skies, restorative hot springs, richly imaginative art and culture, world-class cuisine, and awe-inspiring nature.
Writers need more than caffeine and whatever snacks won’t get the keyboard too sticky. Our hearts, minds, and souls require feeding, because it is from your heart and your mind and also your soul that you find the pieces that make your work what it was meant to be: a true expression of your purpose. This is why we take our Un-Settling Authors to storied locations to recharge, take in beauty, get group support, and learn more about both the creative and business aspects of our craft. We are all better writers – of our books, our blogs, our social media posts, our branding, and our lives – for it.
This time around, we’re also offering space for old friends and newcomers who want to hang with us, get a taste of how Un-Settling Books works with the opportunity to write a book with us, or simply join us for a unique, story-filled adventure that will take your personal and business-writing to the next level.
Here in one of the oldest and most beautiful continually occupied cities in the Western hemisphere, we’ll walk the paths of Georgia O’Keeffe, Willa Cather, D.H. Lawrence, and contemporary authors like Groundhog Day creator Danny Rubin and Game of Thrones’ George R. R. Martin. We’ll immerse ourselves in the creative storytelling of the fantastical immersive art experience that is Meow Wolf and learn to sharpen our own skills while solving its mysteries. We’ll gather around roaring fireplaces to warm our hearts, our hands, and our creative juices with writing prompts, exercises, and opportunities to share. We’ll eat traditional red and green chile inside adobe walls aglow with twinkle lights. And we’ll head up into the mountains for the continent’s only authentic Japanese-style outdoor hot tubbing experience followed by a celebratory dinner in our plush bathrobes while the snow falls gently outside.
Join us. Feed your visions. Nurture your dreams. Commit to travel, professional growth, and broadened experiences as part of rigorous self-care. You, your writing, and your life will be richer for it.
